A buddy of mine called to get directions to a church, since I'm the expert on that sort of thing. I mean, I'm always in sight of a computer, and Google kicks ass.
Buddy: "The minister here is regarded by many as the most powerful minister in the US."
Me: "Can he shoot fireballs or lightning bolts?"
Buddy: "If he could, your house would be on fire."
Me: "If he struck me down I'd become more powerful than he could possibly imagine."
Buddy: "Do you think I should bring flowers?"
Me: "You like the minister that much?"
Buddy: "It's for a funeral."
Me: "The minister can't be -that- powerful."
We both laughed about it, and no offense was intended or taken.
I ended up saying no on the flowers, since in my experience I'd always have flowers sent at some earlier time, instead of bringing them myself. Bringing them seems a little weird, but I don't know if my experience is different than most.
