Old School Games

Music: Bob Dylan - Positively 4th Street

So I took my 5 year old niece to Fry's last night and was trying to think of a new game type for her to play. She has driving games, platform games, 3d run around and do things games, Katamari Damacy, and so on. I figured that a game like Gradius V would be a good addition. Simple enough for a little kid to get the idea, and probably easy enough for her to play it without being frustrated.

The case shows some beautiful graphics in the game, and she was all excited about getting it. Until she saw a collection of old Namco games.

"GALAGA! I want to play GALAGA!"

She all but dropped Gradius V on the floor, and wouldn't let go of the box in which Galaga was contained.

Maybe games really were better back when I was a kid, and it's not just my imagination having a field day with memories of a better time. Fuck graphics. All you need is addictive gameplay.
