If you close your laptop too hard, and the whole thing appears dead, just hit it a couple more times and it'll work fine.
This was attempted successfully on a Dell Inspiron 9300. For further technical support please contact Dell.
I also managed to fix my Kensington Expert Mouse by hitting it a few times, so that's no longer broken. I'm happy that one plane ride didn't destroy a $100 input device.
